Dennis Dwight Housman, 72, of Monett, MO , passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 following a short illness.
Dennis was born on October 24, 1949 in Chariton, IA, son of Cecil and JoAnne (Hayes) Housman. Following his education, Dennis served his country honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam. Throughout his working years, he had worked for and retired from Morton Buildings and was a farmer. Dennis was a proud member of the V.F.W. Post #4207, the American Legion Post #91 and D.A.V. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed woodworking.
Dennis is survived by one son, Casey Housman and wife Sydney of Deridder, LA; one daughter, Shantel (Housman) Johnson and husband Scott of North Carolina; his mother, Joanne Housman of Chariton, IA; five grandchildren, Jewell, Shea and Luca Johnson and Conner and Dameon Housman; three brothers, Andy Housman of Atlantic, IA, Fred Housman of Des Moines, IA and Perry Housman of Chariton, IA; and one sister, Judy Mumford and husband Ken of Russell, IA; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Housman, his sister Patricia Baker, brother-in-law, Gary Baker, nephew, Joseph Housman, sister-in-law, Sue Housman.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Liberty Center Cemetery in Lacona, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
