Hurricane Ian made landfall at 3:05 p.m. as a Category 4 Storm with 150 mph winds.
Landfall was made near Cayo Costa, Florida. Ian rapidly intensifies while churning over the warm Gulf of Mexico waters the past 24 hours, winds were clocked at 155 mph at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Forecast shifts were made Tuesday shifting the landfall closer to Fort Myers, Florida. Which did eventually happen.
Now, the hurricane is projected to move across Florida, potentially going back over water in the Atlantic before coming on land near Georgia and South Carolina as a Tropical Storm by Friday.
Local impacts will be heavy rain at times, right now the main rain day will either be Friday or Saturday. Near 3" to 6" of rain is likely through Monday.
Higher resolution models are now favoring Friday as the day that SW and Central Virginia will see the most rain.
