“Weather” or not school gets cancelled: Tropical Storm Ian

FCBOE Information Specialist Melinda Berry-Dreisbach released a statement to The Trail regarding Hurricane Ian

Editor’s Note: Hurricane Ian was downgraded to Tropical Storm Ian after the original publication of this story.

With Hurricane Ian approaching landfall today and potentially impacting our area later this week, FCBOE Information Specialist Melinda Berry-Dreisbach released a statement to The Trail on how Fayette County students and parents should be prepared to receive information regarding the hurricane or any other weather-related school cancellations or closures.

“If Hurricane Ian should impact school operations, parents will receive an IC message from Fayette County Public Schools via the method they have selected to receive messages (i.e., text, phone call, or both). Parents should verify that their IC contact information is up-to-date to ensure they receive important communications. We will also post a closure or delayed opening statement on the Fayette County Public Schools website and social media platforms,” Berry-Dreisbach said.
