CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WFLA) — It wouldn’t be a Florida hurricane without a Florida man doing something potentially risky in life-threatening conditions.
In a video posted to Twitter, a man in Cape Coral was seen waving an American flag while being battered by the heavy winds from Hurricane Ian Wednesday.
Hurricane Ian ended up devastating the west coast of Florida after making landfall near Cayo Costa Wednesday afternoon.
Heavy flooding submerged entire communities and even homes, as seen in videos and photos shared on social media.
The NHC warned that storm surges could wash out entire roads and bridges, which turned out to be true when the Sanibel Causeway partially collapsed from the hurricane.
