You’re probably here because you’ve heard about Ned Fulmer and the Try Guys cheating scandal and can’t get enough of the gossip surrounding the YouTubers. Or maybe you’re just wondering, “Who is Ned Fulmer? What are Try Guys?" Either way, we’re here to break it all down for you.

This week, House of the Drago–-level drama plagued the men behind the Try Guys, a popular YouTube channel, that resulted in the exit of one of its members, Fulmer. And it turns out it all had to do with his extramarital affair with an employee. But before we dive into the drama, we must first answer a few important questions.

Who are the Try Guys?

For the unfamiliar, the Try Guys date back all the way to 2014—the year of Kimye’s wedding and the Solange–Jay-Z elevator incident, for context—when Ned Fulmer, Eugene Lee Yang, Keith Habersberger, and Zach Kornfeld were employees at BuzzFeed. The Try Guys made videos for the media company in which they tried out different things. In their first video they tried wearing womens’ underwear. It was titled, “Guys Try Ladies’ Underwear for the First Time.”

Here it is, in case you’re wondering:

Per NPR, the group’s videos got around 100 million views on BuzzFeed’s YouTube channel. They left BuzzFeed in 2018 to start their own production company and YouTube channel, which has almost 2.2 billion views with 7.8 million subscribers.

Who is Ned Fulmer?

He was one of the Try Guys, but not anymore—which brings us to the promised soapy drama.

What happened to the Try Guys?

The Try Guys are still a thing, but like Destiny’s Child, they’ve lost an original member. In this case, Ned Fulmer left as the result of the age-old “cheating on the wife with an employee” story. As fans of the channel will know, Fulmer is married to Ariel Fulmer, who has appeared in several Try Guys videos as well as the channel’s Try Wives segments.

People started to notice Ned’s absence from recent videos and podcasts, which led many to speculate that he was out of the group. Someone on Reddit claimed they saw Ned making out with a woman who was not his wife at the New York City bar Niagara. Another redditor said they spotted the duo together at a Harry Styles concert at Madison Square Garden. One might wonder, what does an affair have to do with being a Try Guy?

Everything, apparently. These online sleuths deduced that Ned was cheating on his wife with a producer on the Try Guys. (Do the Try Guys have an HR department, or is HR one of the many things the Try Guys try?) Then on Tuesday, September 27, the current iteration of Try Guys confirmed that Ned had left the group:

What has Ned said about all this?

That same day Ned posted a statement on social media confirming his status as an ex-Try Guy. Read his full remarks below:

“Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship,” Fulmer said. “I’m sorry for any pain my actions have caused to the guys and the fans but most of all to Ariel. The only thing that matters right now is my marriage and my children, and that’s where I am going to focus my attention.”

What about Ariel?

Ariel Fulmer shared a brief statement on her Instagram page, requesting privacy for herself, Ned, and their children.

Okay, but why does everyone care so much?

Because the world loves gossip and scandal—and because the Adam Levine discourse could only last for so long.
