Often, when a TV series is on the air for long enough, the writers introduce a plotline that seems so wild or convoluted that it's like they didn't bother storyboarding at all.

Like, how did Riverdale go from "teenage Archie balances his love of football with his love of music" to "a bomb explodes under Archie's bed and gives him the superpower of invincibility"?
