Emmerdale spoilers (October 3 to 7)

Next week on Emmerdale, the show's 50th anniversary celebrations begin as two familiar faces return to the village.

Elsewhere, Chas and Al's affair is finally rumbled, while the truth about Mackenzie's mystery lover is exposed to viewers.

Here's a full collection of 13 big moments coming up.

1. Liv is attacked

Liv is in turmoil after finally discovering the truth about Sandra's deception, but her ordeal isn't over yet.

Sandra's sidekick Terry breaks into Mill Cottage and confronts Liv, ordering her to retract the statement she has made to the police.

When Liv refuses, Terry turns violent. There's a shocking outcome as Liv falls, hits her head on a table and is knocked unconscious.

2. Aaron returns

Terry tries to flee from the scene of his latest crime, but he's stopped in his tracks as Aaron makes a surprise return to Mill Cottage. Shocked to see his sister in such a bad way, Aaron responds furiously by attacking Terry.

Local policewoman Harriet soon arrives on the scene and stops Aaron before he takes it any further. As Liv is rushed to hospital, Harriet arrests Aaron for his violence towards Terry.

3. Aaron regrets his return

Once Aaron has been released from police custody, he visits the hospital to check on Liv. By this point, Liv has regained consciousness and is surprised to learn of Aaron's return, but Vinny interferes by telling Aaron that Liv wouldn't want to see him.

Aaron's whole reason for coming back is to make amends with Liv, after wrongly accusing her of Ben's murder last year. He starts to wonder whether returning was a mistake, but will he really give up so easily?

4. Nate exposes Mack's secret

As Nate enjoys some beers with Mack and Ryan, he slips up by saying too much. Mack is mortified as Nate refers to his recent infidelity. Ryan is stunned and pushes to hear the full story.

Angered to learn that his mum Charity has been betrayed by Mack, Ryan orders his housemate to come clean. Mack considers it, but soon warns that he'll deny everything if Ryan tries to expose the truth. Feeling defeated, Ryan backs off.

5. Mack's mystery lover is revealed

Mack's worries aren't over when he sees how much Ryan is struggling with keeping his secret.

Things get worse when Mack's mystery lover calls him again, seemingly unable to let him go. Mack heads off for a secret meeting with this unknown person – and their identity is finally revealed to viewers.

6. Al's plans give Kerry the wrong idea

Al suggests to Chas that they should run away together, which would allow them to finally be a proper couple. He even starts looking for a house where they could live, but Kerry gets the wrong idea when she spots him looking online for potential properties.

Kerry assumes that Al is looking for a new place for the two of them, so she bombards him with questions. Al is visibly uncomfortable over the nasty shock that's sure to await Kerry once the truth comes out.

7. Kerry proposes to Al

Al promises Chas that he plans to end his relationship with Kerry. Just when Al arrives at the pub to do so, he's shocked as Kerry proposes to him with a cringeworthy rap.

Clearly taken by surprise, Al accepts Kerry's proposal and this leaves Chas concerned over their own future.

8. Al and Chas are caught out

As soon as Al gets a moment alone with Chas, he promises that he's still committed to their relationship.

Chas is won over again and shares a kiss with Al, but it proves to be a mistake when someone catches them together.

9. Harriet remains torn over Will

Harriet and Dan reveal their relationship to Will, who's surprised over the news.

Harriet admits to Wendy that she still loves Will, but Wendy tries to convince her that she's better off with Dan.

10. Will makes a possible mistake

Following their recent rows over Kim, Clemmie and Millie, a thoughtful Dawn decides to make peace with Will and promises him that she'll attend his wedding after all.

Later in the week, during his stag party, Will makes a decision that he may live to regret.

11. Tracy returns

Nate promises to support Naomi as she attends her plea hearing, but he gets distracted when Tracy makes a surprise return to the village with baby Frankie.

It doesn't take long before Nate's feelings for Tracy are reawakened, but what will this mean for his relationship with Naomi?

12. Ethan and Nicola's row has major consequences

Ethan has a run-in with Nicola when he visits the café, with the ongoing Naomi situation continuing to cause problems.

Nicola decides that she's had enough, so she responds by reporting Ethan's father Charles to the Bishop, hoping to jeopardise his position in the church.
