Nebraska offensive coordinator Mark Whipple poked fun at interim head coach Mickey Joseph.

Joseph took over the role as the interim head coach after Week 2 when Scott Frost was fired by Nebraska after the Georgia Southern loss. Joseph suffered a 35-point loss to Oklahoma in his interim head coaching debut with Nebraska.

While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Whipple was asked about Joseph being the interim head coach. He had a clever response to Joseph’s start as Nebraska’s head coach:

“I told him he’s gotta move his stuff out of the locker room, so we can make fun of him when he’s not there,” Whipple said.

Whipple joked about wanting Joseph to have his own space so the coaches can talk freely. It will be a challenge for the entire coaching staff to close out the season on a high note. Nebraska holds a 1-3 record is starting to enter the meat of the conference schedule.

Nebraska’s offense has struggled at times in the 4 games. Whipple is still optimistic about the team’s direction. He noted how his neighbors still wave at him, which means they are not upset at his performance as the offensive coordinator.

Nebraska will host Indiana on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
