The Times-Reporter

Tusky Valley Ruritan Club met Sept. 20 for its regular dinner meeting at the Fairfield Fire Department in Somerdale with 14 members in attendance. The Ladies Auxiliary served a pork chop dinner.

Jeff Latimer thanked the club members who participated in the Adopt a Highway Cleanup project along State Route 212, which was completed Aug. 27.

The club members were updated on upcoming fundraising. The club worked with Mineral City Legion to set up the Haunted Forest in preparation to run the Haunted Hayride during the upcoming Atwood Fall Festival, which runs Sept. 30 and Oct. 1-2 at Atwood Lake Park Campground. The club also will man its food trailer during the festival. It also will have its food trailer at the Zoar Apple Fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 8-9.

The club again will pack and supply Thanksgiving baskets to needy families in Tuscarawas Valley School District. Tim Stone will head up the project in November.

Jennifer Ladrach was asked to contact Texas Roadhouse in New Philadelphia to investigate a possible dining fundraiser. She will report back at the October meeting.

The club’s next regular meeting will be 6 p.m. Oct. 18 at Somerdale Maranatha Bible Church in Somerdale. Membership dues will be due then.
