Former Long Islander Darcy Stabile on Wednesday was bracing for the worst of Hurricane Ian in Florida.
Stabile, of Venice, Florida, said she was home but had been ordered to evacuate since her home was in zone A. Stabile said most of her neighbors at that time stayed until Hurricane Ian powered up to a Category 4 storm overnight, packing 155 mph winds. That is when Stabile went to seek shelter.
“I have never seen anything this bad, I have never been told to evacuate from my home,” says Stabile. “I know it’s going to get much worse, but it’s pretty bad.”
