WNC Career expo to feature jobs paying $19 or more per hour, various shifts, work from home options

Press release from Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce:

(FLETCHER, N.C.) – With dozens of participating employers working to fill thousands of available jobs combined, the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mountain Area Workforce Development Board urge area career seekers to attend the WNC Career Expo.

Western North Carolina’s biggest hiring event will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 11 AM – 4 PM at the Davis Event Center at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, located at 761 Boylston Highway, Fletcher, 28732.

“If you’re ready for a new career opportunity, don’t miss the WNC Career Expo on October 11,” said Kit Cramer, President and CEO of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. “This one-stop hiring event is a chance to explore what’s out there and build meaningful connections with employers at the same time.”

Job seekers can learn about a wide range of careers in growing industries like health care, advanced manufacturing, government, construction, and hospitality at the WNC Career Expo. Many participating employers will be interviewing or hiring job seekers on site, and most are hiring for least one job paying $19 per hour or more. More than a dozen participating employers are hiring for jobs that allow remote work, and most are hiring for various shifts.

The WNC Career Expo also offers people who have been disconnected from career the chance to access rewarding opportunities. Among the many opportunities, nearly 90% of participating employers are hiring to fill entry-level roles that require no more than a high school diploma or GED, and most participating employers are willing to hire candidates who have a previous justice involvement or incarceration.

The WNC Career Expo is presented by the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mountain Area Workforce Development Board, with additional support from Bojangles, A-B Technical Community College, iHeart Media, Advanced Business Equipment, and FASTSIGNS of Asheville.
