PennDOT is looking to fill permanent and temporary maintenance positions in its south central Pennsylvania region.
The department will hold an open house from noon to 4 p.m. each Tuesday at its offices in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties. Walk-ins are welcome. No appointments are needed.
Positions available might include temporary and permanent CDL operators starting at $21 an hour; transportation equipment operator trainees starting at $19.38 an hour; diesel and construction equipment mechanics starting at $25.91 an hour and diesel and construction equipment mechanic trainees starting at $22.33.
Temporary and permanent CDL operators must have a valid Pennsylvania CDL Class A or B with no restrictions. diesel and construction equipment mechanics must have a valid CDL and a PA Class 7 inspector mechanic certification. Both positions also require a current medical examiner certificate.
On-the-spot applications, interviews, and driving skills testing will take place. Applicants need to bring their current CDL license.

Laptops and staff will be available to help interested participants navigate the new electronic application system.
