- Aspen Ladd has been released by the UFC
- The 27-year-old has been consistently missing weight prior to being cut by the promotion
UFC women’s bantamweight sensation Aspen Ladd surely packs a punch and also has a couple of ground moves in her bag. However, she has been constantly missing weight and the promotion decided to finally pull the plug.
Cut due to weight-cut
Following her latest weight-miss at UFC Vegas 60, Ladd has been released by the UFC, per MMA Fighting. Ladd was supposed to take on Sara McMann at UFC Vegas 60 but the bout was scratched off because she failed to make weight.
Prior to UFC Vegas 60, Ladd had also missed weight at UFC Vegas 38, resulting to her bout with Macy Chiasson being canceled as well.
In 2019, it can be recalled that Ladd suffered a devastating 16-second KO loss to Germaine de Randamie. The defeat generated quite a buzz as many blamed her weight-cut for the terrible defeat. The California State Athletic Commission then decided to suspend Ladd’s bantamweight license after gaining 18% of her total body weight from the day of weigh-ins to the fight night.
Before being released, Ladd has gone winless in her last two trips to the octagon. She lost to Raquel Pennington and Norma Dumont, respectively. The 27-year-old finished her seven-fight stint with the UFC with a record of 4-3.
Ladd was once touted to become the next women’s bantamweight superstar but now it’s all gone. Will she ever consider moving up? Let’s wait and see.
