Sammi Miller of Garaway heads IVC golf team

Sammi Miller of Garaway, a junior, has been selected Inter Valley Conference Player of the Year for girls golf.

Miller was also named to the first team, along with Garaway teammates Olivia Immel, Brooklyn Numbers, Sydny Prysi, Hannah Steiner and Camryn Ianniello. Ianniello is a sophomore and the others are all juniors.

Also selected to the first team was Claymont senior Alivia Edwards, junior Leah Wright and sophomores Addie Carroll and Autumn Rohr, all of Tusky Valley.

Garaway's Angie Miller was named Coach of the Year.

Second team selections were senior Alexa Brick of Claymont; sophomore Mia Steigerwald of East Canton; junior Abrielle Jones and senior Mia Jones of Indian Valley; freshman Jacey Hess of Ridgewood; freshmen Ashlynn Glaser and Ava Schoeppner of Sandy Valley, and sophomore Gabby Burgess and seniors Alaina Rini John and Kathryn Secoy of Tusky Valley.

The honorable mention choices were seniors Samantha Jackson of Buckeye Trail, Meadow Duvall of Claymont and Hayley Reiger of Strasburg; sophomores Eluse Mallette of East Canton, Riley Positano of Indian Valley, Lauren Brown of Malvern and Kristen Gibson of Newcomerstown, and freshmen Sara Weaver of Garway, Kylie Miller of Hiland, Josie Stanton of Ridgewood and Taryn Campbell of Tusky Valley.

Garaway swept the conference, winning the preseason and postseason tournaments and going 14-0 in the regular season. Tusky Valley (12-2 regular season) finished second, while Claymont (8-6) was third, Indian Valley (9-5) was fourth, Ridgewood (7-7) was fifth, Strasburg (4-10) was sixth and East Canton (2-12) and Buckeye Trail tied for seventh. Sandy Valley, Newcomerstown, Hiland and Malvern didn't full teams.
