True to form, Orphan Black has cloned itself. Or, at the very least, created a new genetic offshoot with the spinoff, Orphan Black: Echoes, which stars Krysten Ritter. And though the premiere won’t happen until 2023, we’ve already got your first look at the series, right here, right now.

The original, critically-acclaimed Orphan Black ran for five seasons, and starred Tatiana Maslany as a woman who discovered she’s been cloned… Or rather, she might be the clone. Or, anyone one of the numerous characters Maslany played, often in the same scene, could be the original. But whoever came first, they were all stuck in a massive conspiracy with global ramifications. In addition to the critical acclaim, Orphan Black also won an Emmy for Maslany, and spawned comic books, a board game, an audio series and even a Japanese remake.

Now, though, fans will be able to officially return to the world of Orphan Black on the network(s) where it all started. According to the synopsis provided by AMC, “Orphan Black: Echoes is set in the near future and takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.”

The series is created, written and showrun by Anna Fishko, and directed and executive produced by John Fawcett, one of the two creators of the original series. It also stars Keeley Hawes, Avan Jogia, Amanda Fix and Zariella Langford. And thanks to these first look photos, though we still don’t know a ton about the series, at least we have a look at them, and know (some of) their names.

First up is Krysten Ritter as Lucy, and Zariella Langford as Charlie. While we don’t know how the two are related, it does look like Lucy is a little banged up:

…Could that injury on Lucy’s head have something to do with her clandestine meeting with Avan Jogia’s Jack? Perhaps:

And finally, here’s Keeley Hawes, whose character does not yet have a name. We can see she’s dressed in a lab coat, though, and in the world of Orphan Black that’s never a good sign:

Orphan Black: Echoes will premiere in 2023. The 10 episode long first season is currently in production in Toronto, Canada. The series will premiere on AMC+, as well as one or more of AMC’s networks, TBA.
