A large fire did damage on a street in the Portland neighborhood, according to the Louisville Fire Department.Around 5 a.m., LFD firefighters were dispatched to a blaze at a vacant building in the 2700 block of Slevin Street.They found a heavy fire when they got there, with neighboring residences on three sides.Crews deployed defensive operations on the main fire building, searched neighboring buildings, and laid hose lines to protect surrounding homes. LFD said it took 25 minutes for approximately 35 firefighters to bring the fire under control.Below you can see a fire truck still working to fully extinguish the flames at the scene.The building with the main fire was determined to be a total loss, while the three neighboring homes sustained minor damage. The American Red Cross is assisting four displaced residents.No injuries have been reported at this time, and arson investigators are on the scene.
