Deadpool 3: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Address Logan Concerns

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have reunited to explain how their reunion in Deadpool 3 will affect Logan. Fans were shocked on Tuesday afternoon when Ryan Reynolds announced not only would Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, but the film also has a release date of September 6, 2024. Does this mean the end of Logan, with Wolverine dying, will change because of the third Deadpool film? What will their team-up in Deadpool 3 look like? Luckily, the two Marvel stars have sat down to answer all of your fan questions... if only you're good at reading lips.

The video begins with the two stars sitting on the same couch that the Deadpool 3 announcement video was taped in front of. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman assure fans that they have just as many questions as they do. However, they are going to try and answer some of those pressing questions as they pertain to Logan, the 2017 film directed by James Mangold.

"Like, for example, how is Wolverine alive after Logan?" Jackman asks. Reynolds then explains how Logan takes place in 2029, which is a totally separate thing from Deadpool 3, and Wolverine died in that film. They won't be touching that in their team-up movie.

As Reynolds tries to explain what will actually happen in Deadpool 3, "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" by Wham! begins playing in the background, masking their voices. However, they are quite animated in the video, fake punching and stabbing each other as they kid around on the couch.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman end the video by enthusiastically thanking Kevin Feige and the MCU, before a group of photos of the two of them closes things out. One of those photos also has them with Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy.

"We're extremely sad to have missed D23, but we've been working very hard on the next Deadpool film for, uh, a good long while now," Reynolds said in the Deadpool 3 announcement video. "I've had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character; find new depth and motivation, new meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It's been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside... And I...I have nothing. Yeah...Just...completely... empty up here. And terrifying. But we did have one idea."

At that moment Reynolds, seated on a couch in his home, calls out behind him, asking: "Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?" That's when the Academy Award-nominee walks into frame behind him, takes a bite out of an apple, and while ascending some stairs replies: "Yeah, sure, Ryan."

Deadpool 3 has a release date of September 6, 2024.
