HOME THROUGH ANY SMARTPHONE. KENNER POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AFTER A PERSON WAS STRUCK AND KILLED THIS MORNING. THE INCIDENT CAUSED A LOT OF BACKUPS DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE. WDSU REPORTER SHAY O’CONNOR HAS THE DETAILS ON WHAT HAPPENED. >> THE SCENE IS OFFICIALLY CLEARED ALONG WILLIAMS BOULEVARD , BUT EARLIER THIS MORNING, I’M TOLD THERE WAS TRAFFIC IN THIS AREA AS THE KENNER POLICE DEPARTMENT WORKED TO CLEAR THE SCENE. OFFICIALS TELL ME A MAN WAS TRYING TO CROSS THE STREET AT THE INTERSECTION OF WILLIAMS AND VETERANS BOULEVARDS WHEN HE WAS STRUCK AND KILLED BY A DRIVER. IT HAPPENED AROUND 6:00 A.M., CAUSING LANE CLOSURES FOR DRIVERS. OFFICIALS TELL ME THE DRIVER WAS NOT AT FAULT, BUT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BECAUSE HE OR SHE DID NOT HAVE THEIR DRIVER’S LICENSE. OF COURSE, WE WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU UPDATED ON THE SITUATION.

Kenner police investigating after person struck, killed on Williams Boulevard
Kenner police are investigating after a person was struck and killed Wednesday morning. Police say the accident happened around 6:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the 2800 block of Williams Boulevard. According to police, the driver, Erik Rodriguez-Morales, 22, of Kenner, was found not at fault for the fatal accident, but was arrested for not having a driver's license. The victim struck and killed was identified as Champaklal Patel, 75, of Kenner. The scene has been cleared and traffic is flowing smoothly.
