It might be time to plan a weekend day trip to Pittsfield or North Adams as peak fall foliage begins in Massachusetts.
According to Yankee Magazine’s fall foliage map, peak fall foliage will begin in the northwest corner of the state Friday. It has already hit much of Vermont and will soon expand across New Hampshire, according to the map.
During October, peak fall foliage will hit the rest of the state.
The map predicts Western Massachusetts will be covered in peak foliage around Oct. 10. By Oct. 13, the entire state could be covered in peak foliage.
But it won’t stay for long.
The map predicts the season will begin to end around Oct. 18, first starting in the northwest corner of the state. By Oct. 26, the map predicts it will be past it’s prime and into the late part of the season.
SmokyMountains.com also offers a few predictions.
It predicts that by Oct. 3, the state will be near peak but by Oct. 10 the entire state will be at peak. And by Oct. 17, it’s best to go to southern Connecticut or Rhode Island for fall foliage.
The map offers specific days for it’s predictions, whereas Yankee Magazine’s fall foliage map goes day-by-day.
