EDMOND — The competition Saturday at the Class 4A Pre-State Cross Country Meet was difficult.

All the top teams were in attendance Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Weatherford finished 12th with 263 total points, just 15 points behind Bridge Creek and 19 points behind Cascia Hall.

Weatherford coach Kaleb Fischer said despite the team’s tough day, there is room to improve.

“I think we have a lot of room for improvement. We were missing Reese Roof this weekend so she will help us get into the Top 10 when we have her back. We just are looking to be better in the middle part of our race and we will be working on that in practice these next few weeks,” Fischer said.

Individually, Morgan Mouse finished 11th overall with a time of 12:50.68.

“Morgan had a really great day. She was in the Top 3 for the first mile and a half and then just struggled a little bit in the last half mile. I am really happy with where she was at though. We can work on her finish and she will be in position to be in that top group at state,” Fischer said.

Jaden Bradley finished second on the team and 47th overall with a time of 14:28.60.

“Jaden came straight from a soccer game that morning so she already had tired legs when she ran, but we expect her to be back to normal next week,” Fischer said.

Other finishers included: Jenna Stutzman — 57th — 14:38.92; Ava Foster — 98th — 16:32.96; and Brooklyn Floyd — 100th — 16:37.40.

Weatherford will run this next Saturday at Watonga. The meet will begin with the varsity boys race at 9 a.m.
