This is my second year teaching, and I have been very lucky to find a place like Bristow to begin my career.

We began last year by working on the competitive one act “Amelia, Once More.”We placed first at the regional level and 4th at the state level. We moved into our regular competition season in November where we saw much success as a team, and ended the season with 32 regional qualifications and a second place Sweeps award. We went onto State in April and had seven of our team members place in the top 8 in their respective events. Gary Daughtry brought became state champion in all three of his events, and Bristow earned a 4th place overall sweeps title at state. Gary also earned a place at the National tournament along with fellow competitor Kendal Hurley-Smith. In June, they competed in Lousiville Kentucky at the National level. Gary made it into the top 30 in Poetry. Bristow also put on a successful rendition of “Matilda the Musical” in March and we had a wildly talented cast and crew. Actors Hunter Remington and Aaliyah Givings were nominated for the Discovery Awards for their roles in Matilda. Hunter made it into the top 3 for male performers.

This year, we have already begun working on our next one-act for competition, and are hoping to defend our title. We have a team goal of 50 qualifications for regionals. Most of all my goal is to help students find their voice and channel their passions. We work hard but we have FUN doing it. Let’s go Bristow.
