As the Atlanta Braves approach the end of the regular season and prepare for the post-season and continue to defend their 2021 World Series Championship, the contributions to the success of this season thus far have come from the contributions of several key players. Without a doubt, the play of Austin Riley, who has a strong case for the team’s MVP, Dansby Swanson along with rookies Michael Harris II and pitcher Spencer Strider, have all been majorly impactful this season.

However, as Jon Chuckery points out in his conversation with Audacy MLB Insider, Bob Nightengale, the performances of catchers Travis d’Arnaud and William Contreras have also been very important for Atlanta. And while the two may night have been in the spotlight as much as the previously mentioned players, they could be considered the Braves’ “unsung heroes” Chuckery believes. “I agree with that,” Nightengale replied to Chuckery’s assessment adding that more than likely, the two players splitting time throughout the season may be some of the reasoning as to why they are not talked about more for their efforts this season.
