FORMAT Festival hits high note with art lovers, music fans
FORMAT Festival made its mark in Bentonville, Arkansas, in a big way. The three-day music, art and technology event was hosted right in the middle of the Ozarks. There are two main stages "North of Oz" and "South of Oz" for live performances. The event included 50 artists and several unique venues like the Disco Barn, Smokey's, The Cube, and the "Bizarre Bazaar" for local shops and other well-known vendors. There were local creatives, like experimental artist Kat Wilson with her #SelfieThrone and Arkansas-raised band Honey Collective. As well as the winner of the Gate Competition, Athen Brandon. Brandon’s design pulls influence from nature, the human brain, and abstract elements to showcase the natural flow of the Ozarks. The event was executed by C3 Presents and Triadic with key locally-based partners such as Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The Momentary and Steuart and Tom Walton's Oz Brands and Runway NWA. It took place at the 250-acre Sugar Creek Airstrip property in Bentonville. Organizers say more than 11,000 tickets were sold for the three-day festival. And they plan to return in 2023. “FORMAT represents a new type of festival, placing visual and performing arts on the same plane as live music, creating a fluid and unified experience. Visitors will encounter large-scale installation art and unconventional venues created by a range of internationally recognized artists, alongside an eclectic roster of musical acts. We hope to foster curiosity and discovery, and produce a memorable event on this beautiful, hidden stretch of land in Bentonville.” – Elizabeth Edelman, Mafalda Millies, and Roya Sachs, co-founders of TRIADIC and creators of FORMAT.
