With catalytic converter thefts on the rise around New Jersey, many are looking for ways to protect their vehicles.
One possible way is through catalytic converter etching. This is when a vehicle owner puts etchings or markings on their converters to deter thieves. These markings make it harder for thieves to resell the parts.
The Fair Lawn Police Department is scheduling etching appointments for the public.
Anyone interested should head to the Fair Lawn Public Works garage at 20-05 Saddle River Road.
Police will be available on Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. More dates are expected to be scheduled.
