MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Henderson State men's golf team continued to climb the MSSU Men's Fall Invitational leaderboard to finish in a tie for first before falling in a playoff hole. The Reddies finished the day 10-under 278 and ended the tournament 7-over 871. HSU was the only team to finish round three under par, with only three teams finishing at even-par.
The Reddies began the day in fifth place, and building off the momentum from the second round of day one, HSU overtook No. 3 Oklahoma Christian to tie things up with Missouri-St. Louis. Henderson State and No. 19 Missouri-St. Louis went to a playoff round after tying for first at 7-over 871. Missouri-St. Louis defeated the Reddies by one stroke to take first overall.
Nathan Cossement finished the day with the best score, 7-under 65, ending the tournament at even-par 216, seventh on the leaderboard. The junior tallied five birdies and two eagles on the day.
Josh McNulty recorded six birdies, most on the team to finish 4-under 68. The White Hall, Ark. native carded 1-over 217, which placed him tied for eighth on the leaderboard.
Miller Harris and
Alex Hadden both finished 6-over 222 after three rounds. Harris ended the day 1-over 73 with five birdies. Hadden recorded an even-par 72 score with a birdie and an eagle on the back nine. The pair finished tied for seventeenth at the end of three rounds.
Redshirt junior
Brady Perkins finished the tournament 19-over 235, carding 6-over 78 to end round three. The Southlake, Texas native tallied three birdies on the day, two coming in the front nine.
The Reddies return to action when they host the Battle for the Belt in Hot Springs, Ark., at the Hot Springs Country Club Oct. 3-4.
