A missing Georgetown County woman with autism has been found safe after being reported missing by her family Tuesday.
Elizabeth Mihalakis, 25, left a note for her parents informing them that she was running away from the family home, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. Mihalakis is autistic.
Deputies said she was found at the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Lake City Wednesday morning around 10 a.m.
Officials said though she did not have a working cell phone, electronic devices from the home were searched for clues about her whereabouts.
"Deputies conducted a door-to-door canvass of the neighborhood and surrounding area and discovered a video of her walking alone on a residential security camera. Witnesses placed her on Browns Ferry Road during the afternoon. The GCSO K-9 unit was also deployed during the search."
