IS NOW UNDER. NEW ESSEX, ONE OF THE ALL TIME OH YOUTH FOOTBALL GREATS ARRESTED OVER THE WEEKEND HERE IN OKC. POLICE SAY TOMMIE HARRIS REFUSED TO LEAVE A DOWNTOWN HOTEL AFTER BEING KICKED OUT. KOCO 5 EVAN ONSTOT JOINS US IN STUDIO NOW. AND EVAN, YOU GOT YOUR HANDS ON THE POLICE REPORT. YEAH, IT’S RIGHT HERE. YOU KNOW, TOMMIE HARRIS, HE’S A BIG NAME FOR SENIOR FOOTBALL FANS, A TWO TIME ALL-AMERICAN DEFENSIVE LINEMAN, THREE TIME PRO BOWLER IN THE NFL. ACCORDING TO THIS POLICE REPORT, THE TROUBLE STARTED SUNDAY NIGHT WHEN A BARTENDER AT THE OMNI HOTEL DECIDED TO CUT HARRIS OFF, NOT SERVE HIM ANY MORE ALCOHOL BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THAT HE’D HAD ENOUGH TO DRINK. HARRIS APPARENTLY DID NOT LIKE THAT. HIS HOTEL ROOM, HE REFUSED. SO THEY TOLD HIM THEN TO LEAVE THE HOTEL. AND THAT’S WHEN POLICE SAY HE BECAME AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS THEIR STAFF. OFFICERS WERE CALLED AND THEY SAY AT ONE POINT HE AGREED TO LEAVE THE OMNI, BUT THEN HE CHANGED HIS MIND DESPITE BEING TOLD THAT HE WOULD BE ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING. NOW, NORMALLY, POLICE SAY THAT THIS WOULD ENTAIL BEING TICKETED AND THEN RELEASED, BUT THE OFFICER SAYS THAT HARRIS WAS SO INTOXICATED AT THE TIME THAT THEY BOOKED HIM INTO THE OKLAHOMA COUNTY JAIL. SOMETHING ELSE JUMPS OUT FROM THE POLICE REPORT. THE OFFICER SAYS THAT HARRIS TOLD HIM, QUOTE, YOU DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE MESSING WITH. GOVERNOR STITT WILL FIRE YOU. One of the all-time University of Oklahoma football greats was arrested over the weekend in Oklahoma City.Police said Tommie Harris refused to leave a downtown hotel after being kicked out. He is a big name for Sooner football fans.He was a two-time all-American defensive lineman and three-time pro bowler in the NFL.According to the police report, the trouble started Sunday night when a bartender at the Omni Hotel decided to cut Harris off and not serve him any more alcohol because he thought he’d had enough to drink. Harris did not like that and according to police, when security asked him to go back to his hotel room, he refused. So, they told him to leave and that’s when police said he became aggressive toward their staff.Officers were called. They said at one point, he agreed to leave the Omni, but then changed his mind, despite being told he would be arrested for trespassing.Normally, police said it would entail being ticketed and released, but the officer said he was so intoxicated, they booked him into the Oklahoma County Jail. The officer said Harris told him, "You don’t know who you are messing with. Governor Stitt will fire you. I’m playing golf with Governor Stitt in the morning."KOCO 5 reached out to the governor’s director of communications, just curious if it was true, but have not yet heard back.
