Five students shot behind Philadelphia high school, one dies
Five students were shot behind a Philadelphia high school on Tuesday evening, police said.
The incident happened behind Roxborough High School in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia.
The victims are believed to be members of a football team who just finished a scrimmage and walked off the field, according to Philadelphia police.
Police were dispatched to the 6400 block of Ridge Avenue and the 300 block of Fairway Terrace around 4:41 p.m.
Police said a green Ford Explorer drove up and shots were fired multiple times from the vehicle, then it took off westbound on Fairway Terrace.
Police said two gunmen fired at least 70 shots.
A 14-year-old boy was hit at least once in the chest and transported to Einstein Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
A second 14-year-old was shot in the leg and listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
A 17-year-old third victim was hit four times, and taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Philadelphia police said another victim was taken to the hospital, but there is condition is unknown at this time. The fifth student suffered a graze wound.
The scrimmage between Pennsylvania's Roxborough High School, Northeast High School and Boys' Latin Charter ended around 4:30 p.m., Philadelphia Police First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford said.
No arrests have been made in the incident.
