Police say a confrontation between a naked man and his neighbors in McMinnville ended Saturday with someone firing a shotgun into the ground.
McMinnville Police were called to the 600 Block of Northeast 26th Street in McMinnville, Sunday, on a report of several gunshots being fired.
Police say they learned that a naked male subject was out in front of his residence and was verbally challenged by residents that lived across the street.
After exchanging words, police say one of the subjects across the street threw two full cans of beer at the nude subject, striking and damaging the siding of the naked man’s residence.
The nude man went inside his house and retrieved a shotgun, which led to the subject on the other side of the street to go into his house and get a handgun, police say.
The subject with a handgun returned outside and fired five shots into the ground, reportedly in an attempt to scare the naked man.
Police say no one was physically injured as a result of the confrontation. Officers talked with both subjects and collected evidence.
The subject who threw the full cans of beer was issued a citation to appear in Yamhill County Court for criminal mischief in the second degree.
The overall case will be sent to the Yamhill County District Attorney’s Office for review of any other possible charges.
In addition to McMinnville Police, officers from the City of Yamhill Police, and deputies from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office responded.
