UPDATE: Williston fire crews battle fire east of town

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - UPDATE (9/27 at 7 p.m.): Crews were able to contain and extinguish most of the flames around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A shop caught on fire, but fortunately, no one was inside according to the owner.

Williston Fire, Williston Rural Fire, and Epping Fire Departments were all on the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY (9/27 at 5 p.m.): Firefighters are trying to put out a fire east of Williston.

Officials were called to the scene at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday as a structure caught fire, with smoke apparent for miles.

Officials have blocked off Kingsview Lane for emergency personnel. The road is off Highway 85B near the landfill.
