KOCO 5 learned on Tuesday that the driver was on a test drive at the time.
The car was stopped on Southeast 43rd Street and High Avenue when witnesses said 35-year-old Jason Mercer got angry and eventually shot the driver.
"It just doesn’t make any sense to me honestly," said Jesus Trevizo, a friend of Felipe.
Felipe Palacios, 33, was shot and killed Monday evening after a car he was test driving with a friend broke down.
"Their car just stopped in the roadway. Another vehicle came along. The suspect driving the car became upset that their car was blocking the roadway," Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
Trevizo told KOCO 5 that no one should have to die like this.
"Honestly, it made me sick to my stomach because, you know, you never really expect anything like that to happen to anybody, just for being on the side of the road, stranded," Trevizo said.
Mercer took off from the scene but eventually came back and turned himself in to officers.
"Keep your family close. Keep your friends close because you never really know when’s the last time you’ll see somebody," Trevizo said.
Mercer was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a murder complaint.
