Tributes continue for a retired Rochester Police Department officer shot and killed over the weekend.
William Keith Booker, 50, died Sunday morning after being shot on Jefferson Avenue.
Police are now reviewing surveillance footage from near the scene, as they continue to search for Booker's killer.
Officer Moses Robinson, a friend and colleague of Booker, shared an emotional tribute Tuesday.
"We stand with the family," Robinson said. "We appreciate you. We love you and we thank you for sharing him with us."
Robinson and Booker were friends for 15 years. They worked at different city schools as resource officers, but bonded over helping young people — which Robinson said Booker was called to do.
"Many kids who are hurt and are struggling, they need people like Booker," Robinson said.
"Booker definitely, without a doubt, was that SRO, was that person, that officer," he continued. "And I say that both professionally and personally, in his personal life."
Robinson said Booker was a person everyone could turn to, professionally and personally.
"The principles of, I believe his life, was and is of service," Robinson said. "But in particular, being a school resource officer and the principles of safety and the protection of kids was paramount for him."
In 2017, Booker decided to leave Franklin High School and retire from the police force, dedicating his time to his infant daughter.
"There was mainly one reason for his retirement, was that he wanted to spend time with his daughter," Robinson said. "And that was hands down. She was absolutely the love of his life."
Robinson shared a message for Booker's daughter.
"Her father loved her," he said. "And the standard and quality of his life for me and so many other people will not be in vain and will not go to waste."
