Farrington Grove students participate in Tiger Trot

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Some local elementary students wrapped up their day with a race around the school.

Farrington Grove Elementary held its annual Tiger Trot on Tuesday. Students participated in a fun run that began as soon as classes ended.

Students in kindergarten through second grade were able to do a single-lap race around the building, while the older kids in grades three through five took part in a full-mile race around the property.

“I feel it’s very important to give the kids a chance to experience the physical fitness, to be in shape, to have an opportunity to compete,” said music teacher Jenny Power.

Each runner got a snack after the race with first and second place for both the boys and the girls being recognized.

“They’re always excited,” said Power. “They very much look forward to it. You can probably tell by the second and third graders, how they were running down to get to the starting line instead of saving their energy for the race. They very much enjoy it. They get really excited about it.”
