BOSTON -- Michael Wacha will make what could be his final home start with the Red Sox on Tuesday night as Boston hosts the Orioles for the second game of a four-game series at Fenway Park.
Wacha, who will hit free agency after the season, has dominated at home this season. In nine starts, he owns a 1.72 ERA (10 earned runs in 52⅓ innings) while posting a 5-1 record. He is scheduled to make his final start of 2022 on Sunday, but that game is in Toronto.
Christian Arroyo (illness) is once again out of Boston’s lineup so Kiké Hernández is at second base and Rob Refsnyder is in center field. Connor Wong gets the start behind the plate and will catch Wacha.
The Red Sox have lost six straight games and will clinch a losing season with one loss in their final nine games. They are 7-9 against Baltimore and 20-49 against AL East opponents this season. All nine of the club’s remaining games are against division rivals.
First pitch at Fenway is at 7:10 p.m. ET.
