Vancouver is working to connect members of the community and city council.
The city held its third community communication forum on Monday night. The series of meetings is held away from city hall, and is formatted like small group discussions.
The pilot program allows the public to talk with city council members and the mayor.
Participants can present ideas and issues, and discuss the type of community they’d like Vancouver to be in the future.
“It was really great. I've never been to a city meeting before and it was nice to see that the council members took a lot of time. They gave us 15 minutes to talk to us and hear what we are going to see in the future and what we want to see right now,” said Vancouver resident Sandra Hungate.
Vancouver's mayor says the community forum meetings have given people a chance to talk about a wide variety of issues that concern them.
She said they are very happy to take that feedback as they move forward with the city’s next comprehensive plan.
