Police Seeking Information on Hit-and-Run Crash on Dutchtown Road

YOUNG TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred last Thursday on Dutchtown Road.

On Thursday, September 22, around 7:25 p.m., Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash on Dutchtown Road, at its intersection with North Main Street, in Young Township, Jefferson County.

According to reports, an unidentified vehicle was traveling north on Highway 36. For unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and struck several mailboxes along Dutchtown Road.

The vehicle then traveled north along Dutchtown Road and caused minor damage to two yards. The vehicle then traveled west across Highway 36 and hit an embankment on the west side of the highway causing an unknown amount of damage to the vehicle.

Witnesses then saw the vehicle flee the scene, traveling north on Highway 36.

A witness described the vehicle to be a mid-size, boxy SUV.

A front passenger headlight assembly was found at the scene; it was determined this belongs to a 2007-2009 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500.

The vehicle is suspected to have heavy front-end damage and missing a front passenger-side headlight assembly.
