Four teenagers are in custody for entering autos in Valdosta.
Valdosta police responded to Spring Chase Apartments, in the 1600 block of Norman Drive, Sunday shortly after 1 a.m. after a citizen called E911 to report that there were males trying to break into a vehicle.
The caller told dispatch that they ran on foot from the area.
Responding officers searched the area and found four males behind Tractor Supply. All took off when they saw police.
Three of the four were apprehended quickly. The fourth teen set the alarm off at the store and was found hiding behind the building, according to police.
Officers found five vehicles that were broken into at Spring Chase Apartments and say that currency, jewelry, headphones, lighters and wallets were stolen. Many of the stolen items were found in the offenders' possession. A K-9 was called in and conducted an article search, which recovered several more stolen items where the offenders were found.
18-year-old Ladarrius Gipson and 17-year-old Joshua Lilley were taken to the Lowndes County Jail and charged with five counts of felony entering an automobile and loitering or prowling.
Gipson was also charged with obstruction of an officer and criminal trespass.
The two juveniles, a 15-year-old and 16-year-old, were charged five counts of felony entering an auto to commit a theft and loitering or prowling. They were released to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
“This was great work by our responding officers who began searching the area. Because of their proactive work, these offenders were quickly apprehended, and stolen property was recovered.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
