Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Sandra Flaherty has been plotting against her daughter Liv Dingle for weeks, but the story now seems to be nearing its endgame.

Back in July, Sandra returned to the village on a secret mission to steal Liv's savings. Since then, the sly schemer has been laser-focused on manipulating her daughter to succeed with her masterplan.

Of course, the golden rule in Soapland is that villains can only escape detection for so long, and fans have been eagerly awaiting Sandra's comeuppance.

When and how does it all go wrong for Sandra? Here's what we know so far.

When will Sandra Flaherty be caught out?

The latest batch of Emmerdale spoilers contain some good news for fans who want the tables to turn on Sandra.

The latest storyline teasers confirm that next week's episodes open with Liv already aware of Sandra's deception. At last!

In Monday's visit to the village (October 3), Liv has already reported Sandra to the police for her scam.

This seems to give the game away that Thursday (September 29) and Friday's (September 30) episodes this week are the ones to watch, where everything comes to a head.

How does Sandra slip up?

Previously-released spoilers for this week's episodes have revealed that Thursday's edition (September 29) sees Sandra stoop to a new low in her efforts to steal from Liv.

Liv is furious this week when she discovers that her husband Vinny has teamed up with his mum Mandy to bring down Sandra.

Still loyal to her mother, Liv kicks Vinny out and hits the bottle again.

Sandra is thrilled to see Liv struggling, knowing that it can only work to her advantage. She plies her daughter with more alcohol and gets her talking about her savings account.

Once Liv passes out, Sandra tries to access the bank account and hopes to clear it.

It's currently unclear whether Sandra manages to get her hands on the cash, but Isobel Steele – who plays Liv – has told fans to expect a big twist in the storyline.

Isobel recently told Digital Spy: "It's just the happy ending everyone is rooting for on screen, I loved playing it.

"It's a real shock, so we've been playing it and having to be aware this is coming up, so the audience are surprised by it, and I think it pays off really well. It's a real win."

Unsurprisingly, Emmerdale bosses don't want to give all the details away before the episodes air, so fans will have to tune in this week to see how it all plays out.

The climax of the Sandra storyline ties in with the return of Liv's brother Aaron Dingle next week.

In dramatic scenes, Sandra's sidekick Terry breaks into Mill Cottage and orders Liv to withdraw the police statement she has made about the scam.

When Liv refuses, Terry turns violent and she's knocked unconscious in the chaos that follows.

Aaron arrives back by chance and commits a revenge attack against Terry, but he ends up getting arrested for his volatile behaviour.

The show hasn't yet confirmed whether Sandra will leave the village, but Joanne Mitchell – who plays her – has previously expressed hope that her character could be redeemed in the future.

Speaking in the summer, Joanne explained: "Sandra and Liv have had glimmers of getting along, so I definitely think so. I think it's there but at the moment I don't know exactly where it's going.

"Sandra has got such an agenda, it's almost like it's blinkered and this is what she's got to get, but I would really be interested to see what is coming up, so that if there is anything in the future, we could see that kind of weakness and that vulnerability.

"It's got to be somewhere, as at the end of the day she is a human being. They have got a nice relationship when it's nice. It's few and far between I guess, but it is there."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
