In case you missed it, Bryce Elder spun an absolute gem against the Nationals, throwing a complete game shutout on 106 pitches:

Now, the Braves have called up Kyle Muller to start on Tuesday against the Nationals:

And finally, Vaughn Grissom has hit 150 at bats — meaning he is no longer considered a prospect:

Atlanta’s already thin farm system (in terms of ranking) is about to get a LOT thinner. Pitching prospects are no longer considered prospects after throwing 50 major league innings. After last night’s gem, Bryce Elder is sitting at 49 innings pitched. He pitched well enough to get another start in Atlanta this season, so don’t be surprised if he loses his prospect status in his next appearance. Kyle Muller is sitting at 44.1 innings pitched, so if he can have a quality start in Washington on Tuesday, he will also lose his prospect status.

This isn’t a huge deal; these guys will still be considered prospects to the Braves in some capacity, but when those farm system rankings start dropping and the Braves are close to dead last — this is why. Still, I’d rather have these guys contributing in Atlanta than in Gwinnett.
