Family seeks to buy adjoining lot from Mineral City

KEY ACTION: Heard Keith and Tammy Stone want permission to purchase a lot from the village that adjoins their property.

DISCUSSION: Council agreed to inquire about the matter with Village Solicitor Steve Anderson about splitting the lot and will have an answer for the Stones in the near future.

In another matter, council learned there will be a tornado siren test at 7 p.m. Oct. 4. Council wanted to inform residents this is only a test.

OTHER ACTION:

  • Learned the park committee is developing a plan to construct a park complex. Plans include meeting with an architect and community meetings will be held about the project. The project will include a pickleball and basketball court, soccer, a barbecue grill, a walking track with lighting, a pavilion and bathrooms.
  • Entered into agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for access to state Route 800 through the village for about 150 days beginning Jan. 23, 2023. ODOT will be replacing a bridge on state Route 542 and will have that highway shut down during the replacement.
  • Heard a complaint about trash cans being left out on the sidewalk/curb. Residents are reminded all trash cans must be removed by 6 p.m. the day of the trash pickup service.
  • Agreed to rent a lift for the streets supervisor to trim trees in the village at a cost of $600.
  • Approved paving in the village at a cost of $20,000.
  • Heard the zoning committees continues to send out letters for not mowing properties, and to clean up properties and animal violations.

Set a zoning meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 to review proposed ordinances that are needed for zoning purposes.

The fire department will hold an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12 in honor of Fire Prevention week.
