Mary Alice Reporting –

A Thursday program brings in local historian Seth Angel to discuss his book Understanding Historic Schoenbrunn Village: A Field Guide to the Moravian Delaware Village called Mellhik Thùppèck.

At the Dover Library, Angel will go over the village’s background and its existence timeline, as in 1772, David Zeisberger and five Indian families established this first Christian settlement in Ohio.

Seth Angel, a graduate of the University of Akron and a recipient of the Zeisberger – Heckewelder Award, sits on the board of trustees for the Tuscarawas County Historical Society.

His passion is history of the region, especially the people and events surrounding early Moravian Missions in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and he has spoken at Schoenbrunn, Fort Laurens, and at the Tuscarawas Heritage Home Association.

The September 29th program, at 6:30pm, will be in Dover Library’s community room. For more information, call 330-343-6123.
