CONCORD, N.H. (WHDH) - A woman has been indicted by the Hillsborough County Northern District Grand Jury in connection with the death of a 71-year-old New Hampshire man on May 13.

Authorities found John Glennon dead in his Franklin Street apartment in Manchester on May 13. An autopsy determined the cause of Glennon’s death was multiple sharp force injuries and that the manner of his death was a homicide. Officials said Stephanie Beard, 34, stabbed Glennon in the head with a knife before stealing his Subaru Impreza. Police received an arrest warrant on May 13, charging Beard with second-degree murder for causing the death of Glennon and theft by unauthorized taking for exercising unauthorized control over his car. The Boston Police Department arrested Beard on May 14 on the warrant in Boston and charged her with being a Fugitive from Justice.

Attorney General John Formella and Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg said in a press release Tuesday that Beard was indicted on one count of second-degree murder for knowingly causing Glennon’s death by causing sharp force injuries with a knife and one count of theft by unauthorized taking for obtaining or exercising unauthorized control over Glennon’s car. Beard was also indicted on one alternative count of second-degree murder for recklessly causing his death under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life by causing sharp force injuries with a knife.

On June 21, Beard had a hearing at the South Boston Division of the Boston Municipal Court. She waived her right to extradition proceedings and was transported back to New Hampshire to face charges there.

Beard will continue to be held without bail. Arraignment on these indictments will be scheduled in Hillsborough County Northern District.
