LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Trinity Schools in Longview got a little help from the Longview Fire Department this morning, although not in the way you might think.

One of their flagpoles had been out of commission. When the fire department heard about it, they volunteered a ladder truck and crew to get up there and fix it. They replaced a pully and rope just in time for Trinity to use that site for See You at The Pole, an annual student gathering for prayer, which takes place tomorrow morning. But students are involved with their flags every school day.

“Our fourth and fifth graders work together every morning to put up the flags and take them down at the end of the day. And it just helps bring school spirit and of course our patriotism for our country and Texas,” said Jessica Wilkinson, Head of Early Childhood and Lower School at Trinity Schools.

The flagpole hasn’t worked in two years and now flies the Trinity School flag. They say they will be adding a Texas and U.S. flag as well. The Fire Department also gave students a tour of the ladder truck and answered questions about the fire department.
