The #20 Northern Oklahoma College Maverick women earned their 5th shutout of the year with a 2-0 win over Rose State on an unbelievably hot day in Tonkawa.

After a scoreless first half, Luana San Miguel and Celeste Maldonado scored goals for the Mavs, Heidi Wiedmeier had an assist for the Mavs.

“I give our girls a lot of credit,” said coach Michael DuRoy. “The conditions were miserable. It was extremely hot. We controlled the game in the first half, but Rose State is well coached and hard to break down. They put a lot of players behind the ball and we just couldn’t break through. I challenged our forwards at halftime to get more movement and they responded. Our midfield really controlled the game. Other than a few counter attacks Rose State didn’t threaten us much, and they have some good players. Overall, it was a good win, but we know there is a lot of room for improvement.”
