KANSAS CITY —A child wounded in a shooting in Kansas City on Monday remains in critical condition, according to police spokesperson Adrianne Ortega.

Just before 2p.m., officers were called to a home in the 2500 block of Hardesty Avenue in Kansas City after a report of sounds of gunshots in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located three victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside a residence, two adults and one juvenile.   EMS responded to the scene.  One adult victim was declared deceased at the scene.  The second adult victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The juvenile victim, under 5 years old, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.  There was a second juvenile inside the residence who did not suffer any injuries.

Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to process the scene for evidence and speak to any potential witnesses.   They also canvassed the area for anyone who saw or heard anything and are looking for any video evidence.
