Warning for ALL Google Photos users as horrifying bug ‘RUINS your old pics’

SHOCKED Google Photos users have had the nasty surprise of finding their precious pictures ruined, according to numerous reports.

People began noticing that old snaps stored on the platform dating back five years or more had strange quality issues over the weekend.

Many have shared examples with worrying lines, cracks and dots.

It's almost like a physical photo suffering from water damage, some have remarked.

"This is bad," one user said.

"I specifically keep my data on Google photos to keep them safe and away from my house."

Another added: "I cannot express how depressing this is right now."

A third person commented: "I will be absolutely devastated if all my memories are permanently ruined... anyone know if this is fixable?"

Fortunately Google has acknowledged the issue and is sorting it out.

"We’re aware of the issue and are rolling out a fix," the firm told Phone Arena.

"The original photos are not impacted."

But it's not entirely clear what's causing the bug.

Some have guessed that it might be something to do with how images are compressed to make them load quicker.

Thankfully, users have noticed that if you download the images they appear as normal.
