Two mobile device parts suppliers in the region have moved into a new facility.

Mobile Defenders, a provider of wholesale cell phone replacement parts, and eduPARTs, a provider of Chromebook and iPad parts for schools and students, recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a joint move into a new building at 6155 East Paris Ave. SE near M-6 and the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Both companies said the move to a bigger space occurred to meet growing demand.

“Having this new home allows our teams to efficiently and effectively work together to quickly meet our customers’ needs,” said Erich Baum, vice president of Mobile Defenders. “In our industry, speed is everything and our new location close to the airport allows us to have a workspace that people enjoy and get products out the door quickly.”

The 89,434-square-foot facility was built by Grand Rapids-based Veneklasen Construction and includes both office and warehouse space. The building also features a spacious break room for employees and electric vehicle chargers in the parking lot for employee and customer use.

“Serving schools and businesses locally and nationwide is our core focus at eduPARTS,” said Cole Manning, managing director of eduPARTS. “This new facility has provided us with space to expand our warehouse to better provide them with the Chromebook and iPad repair parts they need. Since moving, I’ve seen an improvement in efficiency, enthusiasm and teamwork.”

Construction on the $7.5 million project began in summer 2021. Mobile Defenders and eduPARTS currently occupy more than half of the space, with other tenants scheduled to move in later this year.
