OAK FOREST (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Friday’s murders of a woman and her two adult children in Oak Forest followed years of domestic violence incidents.

The home where 43-year-old Lupe Gomez and her 20-year-old son, Emilio, and 22-year-old daughter, Briana, were shot to death had been visited by police for domestic incidents six or eight times in recent years, according to Oak Forest Police Chief Jason Reid.

Each involved 44-year-old Carlos Gomez, who was later found dead of a gunshot wound to the head, believed to have been self-inflicted, before he set fire to the home. Gomez was the woman’s husband but not the father of the adult children.

The three were shot outside the home on Ann Marie Lane, and the chief told the Daily Southtown that security cameras from neighboring homes, “very clearly show the tragic event.”
