The Statesboro Service League, a non-profit organization located in Bulloch County, will host its annual fundraiser event, the Attic Sale, on Saturday, October 1st, at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fairgrounds in Statesboro. This is the 49th year of the sale, and the 2022 event is presented by Whitfield Sign Co.

“The Statesboro Service League is honored to be able to support and assist multiple non-profits in our community with the money raised with the Attic Sale events. These events allow us to financially contribute to different groups and organizations who need our help," said Ashley Sheffield, President of Statesboro Service League.

"We are looking forward to our 49th year of hosting our annual fundraising event, the Attic Sale. While the main event is only a one day event, this event is a year in the making with all 121 members working together to make it happen,” said Karen Brazell, Attic Sale Chairman. “With the advancements of technology, and new offerings being made available to us, we are excited to expand our reach past our local community through our Attic Sale social media pages, and the online auction option with the South Auction Group. The Attic Sale now offers you multiple ways to shop with us to show your support, even if you’re unable to attend the sale in person.”

Facebook Marketplace sale a success

New this year, the Service League sold items through Facebook Marketplace over the summer, where the league raised more than $12,500 towards its fundraising goals. League members would post items to the marketplace in efforts to sell, then donate the proceeds to the Attic Sale.

“As our world is ever changing, we have begun looking at ways to grow with the launch of our Facebook Attic Sale Marketplace. This has already been a huge success in its inaugural year giving us the ability to reach more patrons,” Sheffield said.

Statesboro Service League is a group of women who recognize their responsibility to our community through planned programs of education and training. Many projects have been made possible through the Attic Sale in the form of monetary donations and member volunteer hours in and around Bulloch County.

The Attic Sale is the only fundraiser the League hosts each year, and funds raised are invested right back into our local community through various projects and nonprofit groups including Safe Haven, Fostering Bulloch, Gateway Girls, Community Wellness Programs, Youth Sight and Hearing, and various other organizations throughout the year.

“On behalf of Statesboro Service League, we are excited for another opportunity to raise money for our beautiful ‘Boro! We are passionate about the projects we serve as they touch so many individuals within our community,” said Sheffield. “With this being the 49th Attic Sale, we have built a tradition that our community supports, as well as, looks forward to.”
