Weather forecasters are calling for record high temperatures in some parts of the Inland Northwest.
Spokane, for example, could see highs reaching 90 degrees on Tuesday. The record is 87. Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint, Omak and Lewiston could all approach record highs in the mid to upper 80s. Smoky, hazy skies remain in parts of central Washington where wildfires continue to smolder.
But significantly cooler weather is coming. Wednesday will be about 10 degrees cooler with partly sunny, partly cloudy skies.
The chance of rain increases on Wednesday night and carries over into Thursday. High temperatures then will fall as low as 60 degrees in north Idaho, mid 60s in Spokane, low 70s in other parts of eastern and central Washington. Cloudy skies will remain in the eastern part of our listening area on Thursday, with rain lingering.
Then the clouds move off and leave us with sunny days Friday and into the weekend, with highs in the 70s.
